DVB Week 5: Well Done Australia

WELL DONE AUSTRALIA
DVB102 Week 5
#oneperday2023
In week 5, I further developed poster ideas related to bushfires as a result of climate change.

I drafted a few thumbnails to explore different methods of illustrating Australia burning. I did these with a fine liner and some copic markers to add dimension. I ultimately decided on the Australia-shaped steak on a barbeque with the phrase "well done Australia" above. I felt this targeted High SES young adults with humour and appealing to foodie culture.

I developed image 2, a finalised sketch to use for image 3, the lino print. I scanned the sketch to resize it and then printed a copy. I then filled in the back with pencil, placed it on the lino and traced over the sketch with a pen. I was then able to carve the design into the lino and print image 3.

I added colour in image 4 using photoshop, by selecting components and adding a coloured layer, which I would then change the blend type depending on the desired effect (e.g., multiply or lighten).
For the final poster (image 5), I added the text "WELL DONE AUSTRALIA" which has two messages: 1) that the Australia steak is cooked well done, and 2) saying well done to Australia for not taking climate action and thus contributing to bushfires.
